From a homeland torn by turmoil to the bitter cold of Canada, young Tịnh and her family face the greatest upheaval of their lives. Though the beginning is filled with hardship, the kindness of strangers and the companionship of new friends gradually break down the barriers of language and isolation. As the past continues to linger, Tịnh slowly finds the strength to move forward, leave her trauma behind, and build a new life filled with hope in a new country.
